Start your day off with a Junkers Grossflugzeug G 38. Grossflugzeug is German for big-ass airplane .

I guess you could say there was a lot of Junkers in the trunkers.

The wing was big enough for the engineers to go out and service the engines during flight. Which probably meant adding oil.

Can you do one of your full write-ups on this thing? Or link me to a good one? I am very interested.

Sees how thick wing is between engines 1 and 2, then sees windows between 2 and the fuselage!

Also, different props inside and outside.

I hadn’t noticed the props. Interesting. Not surprisingly, the wing was large enough for the mechanic to service the engines during flight.

Wikipedia has an article about it.

Something something “crash for Junkers program” something.

Sorry, haven’t had coffee.

The passenger compartments in the wing roots thing was visited by the designers of the Fallout video game series for one of the types of Googie art-inspired civilian airliner crashed in the ‘50s-future post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Apparently it was encouraged by this period render:

I like how pre WWII through about the late ‘40s, the design theory for airplanes was basically ‘we need to go bigger, but how?’

‘more.’

‘more what?’

‘yes.’

That thing is super cool. The noise in the wing seats though...

Would there be some kind of turbulence caused by the props not having the same number of blades?

Can you imagine the noise inside this Northrop YC-19?

That is the reason why people here Laurel, not Yanny.

I hear Laurel.

I’m not an engineer, so I have no scientific opinion on that. But my guess would be that it would not. You would just get more pull from the center engines. No idea why they did that.

My 15-y-o hears Yanny. But then again, he hasn’t been sitting in front of trombones for 30 years. He hears frequencies I can’t remember or even imagine.

I’ve had multiple sets of ear tubes so i already know my hearing sucks. Marching band and going to college football games did not help.

Something about it reminds me of the ANT-20/Maxim Gorky. Must be how there can be people in the wings.

My understanding is you get a greater amount of thrust, but it takes more energy from the engine to turn those props through the air, so your HP to thrust efficiency starts decreasing.

In a military application for max performance, keep adding blades, but an airliner may not want to be sucking down that much fuel.
